Description
Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become thin, brittle, and weak. Fragile bones fracture (break) easily, especially those in the hip, spine, and wrist. Injuries due to osteoporosis are among the most common and dangerous that can happen to an older adult.
Given the number of individuals affected by osteoporosis, caregivers should be aware of how best to help those with this disease, and how to help themselves and others avoid it.
